“When I first joined Success After Stroke, I felt so instantly welcome, while my friends were my rocks, they could never understand what it is like to have had a stroke, but at Success After Stroke everyone understands that the support is invaluable. We are like a family, sharing in each others successes and I can honestly say seeing the improvement in people is heart warming.”

“I joined Success After Stroke at the beginning of January 2017.  I have found the group very welcoming, the volunteers are excellent and have a sense of humour!  It is marvellous to be with kindred spirits, who understand the pitfalls of having a stroke.  We have interesting talks, quizzes and plenty of banter at coffee time!  The physiotherapists are a great help and Jan does a wonderful job on our nails.  I have enjoyed trying T’ai Chi and the swimming group is very helpful”.

“Success After Stroke has helped me in many ways, including getting me to do things that I know without the help and encouragement, I would not have thought possible.  My wife enjoys the carer meetings and coming along to the outings and we both feel we have an extended family with all our friends, enjoying so many laughs and each other’s company.  I must also mention how much the team of helpers and volunteers mean to me.  They make me feel normal which is so important.  It is such a feeling of community, no words can really explain what they all mean to me”.
