Volunteering at SAS
Volunteers at SAS come into the Stevenson Centre on a Tuesday and/or Friday morning from 9.30-12noon and help with exercise classes, giving out tea/coffee and biscuits, washing up and chatting to the members which is a very important part of the morning. After the coffee break they can join in with a singing group or a discussion group. They can also be advised how to help with physio and speech and language. At the end of the session it is important to stay and help with tidying up and cleaning.
Volunteers can also help with the art group on a Wednesday morning at the Stevenson Centre.
Volunteers are given a “Buddy” when they first arrive to show them the ropes and every Volunteer is included in an annual training/refresher course which includes First Aid, Safeguarding and Moving and Handling.
Volunteers can also join the SAS trips which include sailing, theatre, croquet and other planned outings.
We are also always on the look-out for people who can help with organising our fund-raising events.
SAS is a wonderful family and volunteers find it very rewarding.
