Volunteering for Success After Stroke is fun and rewarding as all our members have a positive attitude to making and maintaining the best recovery possible. Previous experience of the effects of stroke is not necessary as we will offer guidance on the best way you can support our members. You will need to be caring, patient and flexible in the help you provide.
We would ask you to commit to helping at either the Tuesday or Friday session (or both) and whilst we understand that most people who volunteer with an organisation need to fit this in with their otherwise busy lives, we do ask that you give us reasonable notice if you are unable to attend a session. The sessions on Tuesday and Friday last from 9.30 am until 12 noon, although it would be helpful if you could arrive a little earlier to help set up.

“I always think that, as volunteers, we get more out of Success After Stroke than we put in.”
“Being a volunteer for Success After Stroke has allowed me to continue to use my professional skills, especially with a group of people who I may not have met otherwise. Knowing that I have helped someone view life in a more positive way is reward in itself and, in the process, I get to know some delightful and interesting people.”
“I have volunteered for Success After Stroke since 2010, I always go home in a more positive frame of mind than when I arrived. You can’t fail to be impressed by the fabulous ‘can-do’ attitude of the other volunteers, therapists and, most of all, the members themselves.”
“After being a volunteer for a number of years, I still find it very rewarding. The members are amazing people and are always so grateful for the help that we give – we are one big happy family.”
